Brighton College Academic Building

Client:
Brighton College
Architect:
Hopkins Architects
Location:
Brighton
Date:
August 2017

The new building provides 11 new classrooms and a new experimental classroom. Replacing the old swimming pool, we worked closely with Hopkins Architects to design this new naturally ventilated building, ensuring the latest ‘Building Bulletin’ best practice standards were applied. The façade was also carefully designed together to minimise heat from the sun, while photo-voltaic panels on the roof and connection to the site wide ground source open loop boreholes provided low carbon solutions. The project also won a Sussex heritage trust award and civic trust award.

Benefit: Use of latest best practice in sun shading and use of photo voltaic panels to maximise energy efficiency. Sussex heritage trust and civic trust awards.
